The First Public Project: A Salton Sea Pop-Up Museum
As its first public initiative, Visit Salton Sea is beginning to develop a community-rooted pop-up museum project centered on the Salton Sea and the people connected to it.
The project is envisioned as an evolving space for local memory, regional history, photography, ephemera, ecology, art, and lived experience. Its purpose is not only to preserve and share stories, but also to create a more thoughtful and accessible way for people to engage with the Salton Sea beyond stereotypes, neglect, or sensationalism.
This project is still in its early stages, and community input is an essential part of shaping what it becomes.
